Breaking News: James Laurinaitis is Returning To Ohio State

What is up? Welcome into your daily, not so daily. This is breaking news. Forget about your daily Blitz. Well, don’t forget about it, I’d like you to still watch that, but breaking news, Threes is coming home. The freaking legend, the little animal, James Laurinaitis, returning to the Buckeyes where he should be. Oh, it took a year, I’m glad he finally made it.

Oh, this is huge. Nobody is more decorated as an Ohio State linebacker, three-time All-American, NFL vet. Oh man, so the Ryan Day announced just an hour ago on Twitter and other places, I’ve seen it announced, James Laurinaitis joining the Buckeye defensive coaching staff as a graduate assistant, same role he had under Marcus Freeman over at Notre Dame.

Coming home, freaking coming home. Got a quick quote from Ryan Day, “I am thrilled for our program, especially for our current and future Buckeyes who will benefit so much from having James on staff. James is a terrific young man, is that young anyway, with wisdom as a Buckeye and experience as an eight-year NFL veteran. He’s going to be a very important part of our program going forward.” Yes, he will be, and he’s never leaving, ever, ever again. Yeah, like I said, three-time All-American, consensus from 2006 to 2008, Big Ten defensive player of the year twice, three-time first Big Ten First Team all Big Ten, won the Bronco Nagurski Award in ’06, Butkus Award in ’07, Lot Trophy in ’08. We know he went to the National Title Games, so he said they need to talk about that. This is a happy day, second-round pick in 2009 draft. Oh man, so much. Wow, his pro career, 869 tackles in eight seasons, Jesus. That’s over 100, yeah, 100 a season, 16 and a half sacks.

Oh, you know from 97.1 over the last few years up until last year, and you know, as Big Ten commentary on the games, color commentary on the TV staff, but this is huge. Buckeyes needed this. It’s a shot in the arm, I think, especially for recruiting linebacker recruiting specifically, and soon when the NCAA allows all analysts and GAs to help coach on the field, then that’s going to open the door even more, I think. So huge story, let me know what you guys think. Are you pumped or what? I said this last year about this time when he was hired at Notre Dame. I said, “I hope this is just the first step in his path back to Columbus.” And it was, just took a year. So hit me up in the comments, hit me up on social media, Twitter, whatever, email me anytime. I’ll talk to you later. Go Bucks.
